Brasmar expands its operation with acquisitions in Spain
For the Portuguese company, this was an acquisition year in the Spanish market. Within its Iberian expansion, Brasmar acquired the Spanish companies Foncasal and La Balinesa.
Foncasal, a company specialised in chilled cooked octopus, ready for consumption, and other cephalopods, includes in its portfolio the brands Baltia, Moncasa, Montenia and Nuchar, with a sales volume of 18 million euros in 2018.
The acquisition of La Balinesa enabled the Portuguese company to enter a new business segment: chilled food. With the acquisition of the Spanish company, which is specialised in smoked products, such as salmon and codfish, Brasmar aims to reinforce its position in the Iberian Peninsula and increase its leadership in the Portuguese market.
